My Quezon Province Adven-Tour: Ouan's The Farm Resort

I was able to visit Ouan's the Farm Resort in Kanlurang Mayao in Lucena City with friends Professor Melissa Dizon (who organized the trip), Travel writer and book author Benjie Locsin Layug, PBB Teen Housemate Maichel Fideles and Videographer Angela Almendras through the kindness of Ms. Lurhen Cortes of APPSLINE Travel, a tourism educator and mover that is very passionate about promoting local tourism destinations in Quezon, her hometown.  It's a worthy  trip from Manila, Quezon has so many things to offer in terms of tourism, the province is very rich in culture and heritage and the locals are very warm and nice, everybody is always smiling.

Going back to Ouan's, we had the chance to meet the General Manager Ms. Ma. Louchiel S. Labay, and her equally lovely daughter.  Ms. Louchiel is  the daughter of retired General  Recaredo Sarmiento, the owner ( it is a family corporation), during breakfast over Lucena empanada, pancit habhab, buko juice and pandan juice it was a delight to hear that the family is into farming and mind you organic farming, the half of the 10 hectares property was dedicated to agri-tourism project, and to grow local organic produce, happiness!

The farm resort is perfect to unwind, family bonding and to do adventurous activities such as zip-lining, rock climbing, and rappelling, both adults and kids will enjoy the activities, the swimming pool is Olympic in size with a special pool for kids, function rooms are available for corporate team building activities, small meetings, weddings and other special occasions and events. 

There are picnic grounds, overnight accommodations,  sports complex and of course the farm. The food is great too, and the staff are professionally trained with their tasks.

We are so impressed with Ms. Louchiel's daughter! very adventourous and athletic, it was a motivation and challenge for us to do the same, good job ija, keep it up, adventure sports builds character and well-being.

Our team also did rappelling which is very easy for me since I used to do a lot of it before.

Travel Tips: Must-haves In My Travels

It pays to be organized when you travel, expect the unexpected, so better be a boy scout or girl scout and ready, here are some tips when travelling specially abroad , whether for some shopping or some adventures.

A must-have:

1. A nice duffel bag preferably foldable as a shopping bag, when shopping whether it's a high-end shopping or retail shopping abroad, I always carry a nice bag such as this one, the reliable Long Champ tote bag ( but please buy the original brand always) to put all the items bought from streets, flea markets or malls to avoid carrying too many plastics bags and put them all together in one nice bag so you can still look poised even you shopped at a bargain shops. This way, I don't look like an obvious  sucker for bargains and cheap retail LOL.

Those bargain finds are inside my Long Champ tote :-)

2.  Bring your own adaptors for your electronic gadgets, and don't rely on the hotels if they have available to fit in your own gadgets. Some countries have different electronic sockets and it is wise if you have an adaptor like this one ( I bought in Hong Kong), multiple socket adaptors that can fit all kinds of plugs whether European, American or Asian electronic sockets. 

3. Bring some home habits with you, as for me I don't really like using shower when taking a bath, the probinsyano in me always love using a "Tabo" for taking a bath. Even I have shower at home I still prefer using tabo, I bring it with me or make sure there is one I can get in the area where I am going. I also usually get a hotel where there is a bathtub so I can play with my yellow duckie.
